Top Notch is dedicated to providing white glove service to students in partnership with all available existing career management and fulfillment support services such as career centers, faculty, alumni, and student organizations. We encourage you to review the history and goals of our organization and welcome any questions you may have so that we can enable you to better support your students as well.
We work closely with career services departments to provide the following benefits:
- Helping students understand importance of the career center and the need for career coaching and advice
- Assistance in student career coaching/vocational discernment, and professional development
- Ability to form relationships at firms in distant cities which may be a strategic fit to supplement regional on campus recruiting
- Delivery of information on employment trends through direct contact with employers
Numerous research supports the importance of an internship experience for students, and we want to thank our Career Development partners for their support in the mutual goal of workforce development and education:
- Firms that benefit from internship programs tend to be satisfied with the intern and thus are willing to extend them permanent job offers (Marabello 1991)
- Internships provide students insights into what a permanent job would provide and whether they would like it. (Buckhoff, 1995)
- Many corporate recruiters prefer to hire business students who have participated in an internship experience (Goad 1998)
- An internship is likely to produce not only positive intellectual results but also enhanced and expanded employment opportunities as well. (Snyder, 1999).
- Recruiters often indicate that internships and co-op programs give students a clear advantage in finding employment. (Devine, 1997)
